Lauries Crusador: a noble refiner
Another important German stallion is the Thoroughbred Lauries Crusador xx, (Welsh Pageant xx/High Top xx), whose bloodline has come into NZ via his grandson, the Hanoverian licensed and performance tested breeding stallion, Limonit. .
Limonit is no stranger to NZ dressage enthusiasts and Hanoverian breeders. He was imported in 2005 by Ad Astra Hanoverians in Dairy Flat and his first NZ foals were born in 2006. He passed his performance test in Adelheidsdorff in 2002, gaining third place out of 50 stallions.
Breeding Stallion. Limonit’s damsire, Weltadel, is by the third member of the great dressage breeding trio, the legendary dressage sire, Weltmeyer.
Lancier (liminot’s Sire)
Lancier, is a son of the fabulous Laurie’s Crusador. The noble bay stallion is striking because of his big-framed, expressive, correct conformation. His rideability deserves special attention. His talent for dressage was confirmed at his stallion performance test where he achieved highest marks in all partial results and a 9 for willingness to perform. He exhibits three excellent basic gaits and a well-balanced temper.
Lauries Crusador XX (Limonit’s Grandfarther)
Probably the most valued TB sire in the Hanoverian breed for dressage at this time. Lauries Crusador xx began his WB-breeding career in 1990 at Landgestüt Celle where he still resides.
Among his numerous progeny are found successful GP competitors in dressage (such as Lesotho or Little Big Man) as well as respected breeding stallions with Longchamp, Londonderry (both Hanover) and Laurentianer (Westfalen) probably being the most recognized ones. Lörke is another approved son and serves at stud in the US.
As of 2004 ‘LC’ scores an FN dressage index of 138 - quite unique for a straight TB and ranks even higher in the Hanoverian Verbands database for improving type and riding horse points (161) and any other criteria except for jumping which is clearly not his major discipline although he does have a few successful progeny competing over 4′7” as well as in higher level eventing.
Among his 295 daughters registered as broodmares with the Hanoverian Verband 86 qualified for a states premium award or title with SPS Luna (born 1999) winning the prestigeous Verband-wide Ratje-Niebuhr-Show in 2002. By now 29 of LC’s sons have been licensed by misc. breeding associations 9 of them being fully approved with the Hanoverian Verband.
Lauries Crusador xx is the damsire of Don Laurie who we selected to breed SPS Dune to in 2004.
